![]() ![]() ![]() Rihanna has yet to comment on the leaked clip or the song apology. ![]() ![]() 'For that song that leaked, Im sorry, Ri / It wasnt meant to cause you grief. It wasn't meant to cause you grief / Regardless, it was wrong of me." Eminem has released a new surprise album, a companion to his 11th studio album, 'Music to Be Murdered By.'. The 48-year-old raps, "But, me, long as I re-promise to be honest, and wholeheartedly, apologies, Rihanna / For that song that leaked, I'm sorry, Ri. Now, on the track Zeus, one of 16 new songs added to the revamped Music to Be Murdered By, Eminem expresses heartfelt remorse for ever uttering the words. In the leaked footage, the Lose Yourself hitmaker suggests he can understand why Brown lashed out at his then-girlfriend following a pre-Grammys party in 2009, rapping: "I'd side with Chris Brown, I'd beat down a b**ch too" - seemingly referring to Chris and Rihanna's physical altercation.Īt the time of the leak, Eminem's representative insisted that the verse was scrapped almost as soon as the rapper had recorded it over a decade ago, and claimed the hip-hop star has a "great relationship" with Rihanna, who has collaborated with him on hits including Love The Way You Lie, and Monster. The seven-second clip, reportedly recorded during sessions for Eminem's 2009 album Relapse, hit headlines last year after it was uploaded online by a Reddit user. Let’s agree to disagree.Eminem has used his reissued album Music to Be Murdered By to publicly apologise to Rihanna following the leak of an old rap in which he appeared to side with her abuser Chris Brown. And still it pained this author to leave a heap of personal favorites on the cutting-room floor (“Amityville,” “So Bad,” “Evil Deeds,” “Love You More,” etcetera, etcetera, etcetera). The result is a list of songs that both captured Em’s maniacal, mischievous (and, yes, sensitive) mind at the time of release and remain undeniably great today. But when you hurl so much spaghetti on your sweater, not all of it is gonna stick.Īs far as parameters are concerned, we've eliminated cameo tracks on other artists’ albums (sorry, no “Dead Wrong” or “Patiently Waiting” or “ Caterpillar”), Em’s work as D12’s band leader (but we still bump “Purple Pills” and “How Come”) and tracks from the excellent Bad Meets Evil rhymefests. Of course, we were also met with the cold splash of the flops and misses. Re-listening to 20-plus years of album cuts, smash singles and loosies reminds us how versatile and volatile, how ingenious and risky Eminem has been. ![]()
